Artist Profile

$UGE

Born and raised in Bristol UK, $uge draws from a wide variety of musical influences, ranging from Bob Marley, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Prince, Bounty Killer, 2pac, B.I.G, Jodeci and Mary J Blige.
$uge began emceeing at an early age and it’s to no surprise he later became involved with various other emcees who now make up members of the group ‘Da Label MTG’.

Before the group became official in 2002, $uge and the original members of the crew released over 10 street mixtapes and had their own show on a local pirate radio station.
$uge is mostly known for his collaborative efforts. To date he has worked with not only Da Label MTG as a group, but also appeared on tracks with King Aggi, R.E, Baker T, TriggaDon,Uz, Jaide Green and many more.
What defines $uge as a rapper is simple – Character. His style is always street but he brings elements of humour and consciousness - It’s probably these attributes that helped him reach the live Battle finals with Professor Green back in 2005.

If you ask anyone in Bristol what they think of $uge their answer would probably be "He's sick"… with verses like ‘when it’s time to write I run through more pads than a woman on her period’ it’s hard not to take people’s opinions literally!

$uge has performed all across the UK and has shared stages with the likes of Roll Deep, JME, Nasty Crew, Terminology and Coremega, whilst opening up for huge US acts such as Raekwon from the Wu Tang Clan.
$uge recently performed at the Eye Festival in Germany where both he and Jaide Green performed their song ‘Gangster’.

In late 2009-2010 fans can expect $uge to appear on R.E’s new mixtape ‘Best things in life are fREe’, the next ‘Da Label MTG’ album there’s a chance fans will soon witness $uge’s first solo project in 2010!
