EP

EP has been rocking mics since day! He loved hip-hop before he had heard of it. A fascination with words led to him writing rap-style poems whenever set the task of writing a poem in the classroom.

At the age of 11 he began asking people to say random words to him and he’d quickly attempt to think of a sentence to rhyme with the given word. Again, he didn’t really know what he was doing until, at 14, he heard Eminem performing ‘freestyle rap’- incorporating an array of words thrown at him, into his rap. EP later heard the 2pac track ‘hit em up’ and was captivated by the sound of channelled rage.

Whilst the sound of reckless, outspoken venom, appealed, a true love for hip-hop was yet to be ignited. This love for hip-hop stemmed from the realisation that it wasn’t the voice of the emcee or the angry content of a song that made true hip-hop; the actual way the words were put together was the art. A Canibus freestyle over a DJ Clue beat (“I possess the lyrical ammo to battle and rip anyone of you warm blooded mammals to shambles”) prompted this burgeoning appreciation for lyricism;  the track is riddled with clever rhyming techniques that involve rhyming the beginning sound of the word as well as the end.

EP has recorded a track for ‘Aim Higher’ encouraging GCSE students to consider further education, as well as recording an album EPic with producer Picasso.

EP performs in clubs in Bath such Babylon -hosting for Plus One and Jehst. He is also playing Playground alongside Bobafatt, a Bath hip-hop DJ. He’s also a live instrument hip-hop band called Beat Poets and has played gigs in Moles, with the band, as well as Godiva Festival in Coventry.
