‘Da Label’ was founded in late 2002, after several rappers who dreamed of being signed joined forces to become their own hip hop collective.

In the early days, Da Label consisted of 5 members; Uz (C.E.O), Ceaze, R.E, Derty (C.E.O) and Suge. Much later, in 2007 the size of the group had grown so vastly that Da Label renamed themselves to ‘Da Label-MTG Recordings’ to welcome the newest members and also to acknowledge the long standing contributors.
MTG officially stands for ‘Monopolising The Game’ however, ‘MTG’ has developed various backronymns, such as ‘Multi-Talented G’s’, ‘Mentality to grind’ and so on.

Today, 11 members now form the group and currently consist of: Uz (C.E.O), Ceaze, R.E, Derty (C.E.O), Suge, Tug MC, TriggaDon and X-Cali, alongside Sima, L Man & Conners which make up the in-house Production team ‘Highest Productions’.

Each artist within Da Label-MTG has their own distinctive style. While the lyrical content and styles vary from rapper to rapper, the basic themes are generally the same - reality, urban life and a bit of humour. Da Label MTG can touch deep and talk about real issues, or create something lighter and produce something everyone can enjoy.

Pre-2006, Da Label first achieved notoriety in the streets by recording and giving away free mixtapes. They later became known to hip hop fans in 2006 following the release of the independent Debut album “Long Awaited” which immediately gave the group a sizable underground following, especially after the album was rated 4stars in HHC Magazine. Since then, the group has released 2 mixtapes and have also seen the first solo release of the group by R.E.

Da Label-MTG have toured across the UK, performing on stage alongside the likes of Roll Deep and Boy Better Know and have supported US Rappers such as Termanology, Cormega and Raekwon of the Wu Tang Clan.

In 2007, MTG officially released their own clothing line, which includes MTG hoodies, tee’s and vests for Men and Women. The MTG brand is mostly dominant in Bristol, where the MTG logo can be see worn by members of public day in, day out.
