Musician / Dj and Producer Skelm started at a very young age in music picking up the guitar at the age of 8-9 years old.
Born and bred in Bristol England music has always been apart of Skelm’s life since he was a small child and started programming a Roland 707 Drum Machine with beats at the age of 11-12 at the same time going to his first music studios in London with his uncle who was a musician.
This very early exposure to music in general gave Skelm the background he needed to forward his development into his long path of musical discovery.
At the age of 13 Skelm started his first band in Bristol England which followed the next year in doing his first ever bar gig playing the guitar in the band and acting as song writer/arranger.
Eventually developing into a 12 piece hip hop band and along the way Skelm learnt to play bass, keyboards and drums as he was surrounded by musicians and Dj’s all the time.
Which eventual found Skelm using his older friend’s technics at the age of 15, he was hooked from then on.
So at the age of 16 he decided to purchase a set of 1210’s and started playing old hard core rave because of his first free party at the age of 13 and his love for the hard core rave seen and music.
Skelm has followed the progression from British hard core rave into drum and bass as we know it today. His style is varied and says
“I love to play what ever I am feeling on the decks. I have a broad range of musical tastes in general so that translates over to my Djing! I don’t care what others think! It’s kind of like these are the tunes I like and I play them it’s that simple! so when I dj I play what I like when I like”
Skelm is one of England’s hottest up and coming drum and bass Dj’s/Producers and his tunes are gaining the attention of up and coming producers/Mc’s+Dj’s in the industry.
As a Dj Skelm is very versatile and doesn’t just use vinyl but also his own dub plates cut onto vinyl / final scratch with lap top and also has tunes from up and coming and established artists such as Suv (Full Cycle/Reprezents), Cridge (Tribe Recs), Izah(Flipside/Rinseproof), Sensa (Dirty Needle) and more, so his arsenal performing live is un stoppable and will fill any dance floor instantly and has proven this whilst headlining events in the Uk as well as Eu and USA.

Skelm has just recently been offered signing tracks to Suv’s (Playside Recs/Full Cycle) new label Playside and Flipside Records being launched early 2007 as lead spearhead artist for Flipside and is listed on Suv’s top 10 tunes in ATM magazine January 07 edition.
As well as this he has also just completed 2 remix’s of a track by C.C.Q (a Bristol act) which Ft Kosheens Singer ‘Sian Evans’ of which QQC’s By My Side – Feat Sian Evans (Kosheens Singer) has been signed to Skelms new dubstep label Cussproof Records which will be launching soon in 2008 and also working on some more for them as well as a whole host of other rmx’s including ones for Suv (Playside/Flipside) and more for CCQ. The future looks bright for Skelm for 2007 so watch this space.
Skelm had a to take time some time of since May 07 as he had to be resuscitated at hospital and subsequently had to stop djing so much so hence went into the studio and hit the production hard once he was well enough to start making tunes again!
Right now Skelm is back on his feet and fully back djing and looking for bookings in Uk and Europe determined to do better than he was doing before and at a better level with the music he has created under his belt!
In 2007 Skelm signed a distribution deal for his label/s (of which Rinseproof Records was the first releases RPR001 and RPR002 in 07) with the worlds largest digital distribution company IODA of which they distribute so many artists through labels in there catalog that collectively they are up for 60 grammy nominations in 2008 (see the distributors web site for official press release).
RPR002 was had air play on 1extra on the drum and bass mix show hosted by Crissy Criss as well as numerous club and other radio stations.
Skelm is launching also a dubstep label in 08 of which 7 months releases have been signed from the likes of Skelm him self with artists such as Skelm,CCQ(feat Kosheens singer Sian Evans),Claw(NYC) ,Zardoni(Venezuela), Izah(NL), Dubfoundation(UK), Tuff Touch(UK) and Boutbeats(NL) signing tracks to the label so the 2 labels are truly world wide spanning artists.
