Artist Profile

Freedom

Born and bred in Bristol, Freedom started out rhyming at the young age of 14. Back in those days he mostly spat over Drum & Bass and UK Garage beats with his array of raw and emotional lyrics. Not long after this he went on to taking the mic at any opportunity he was given and performed in clubs, pubs and parties around the city, including Cafe Blue, Lakota, The Lawns, The White Lion, Dimensions, Riley's Snooker Hall and even the Bristol Hippodrome to name just a few.

A couple of years later he purchased his first set of turntables and taught himself to mix records. He played at many house parties at first and learned to guage crowds reactions and how to fill the dancefloor. Since then Freedom has DJ'd at clubs in Bristol including Cosies, The Bristol Inn and Toto's Wine Bar, and regularly plays gigs supporting longtime Bristol legend Mikee Freedom.Always the versatile artist, Freedom moved into producing music and has developed his own unique style of beats and instrumentals. Things then turned full circle, because Freedom went back to his early roots, and his primary musical talent: Rhyming, and he began his recording life when multi talented Bristol artist Range colloborated with him on the track "Night Night" (Also produced by Range).

Freedoms versatile, heartfelt lyrics are hard hitting, brutally honest and sometimes controversial, but by no means one-dimensional, as he makes many positive and inspiring tracks, alongside his more gritty street tales.
